Friends and family,
I just wanted to send out a brief update on my writing.
Book writing is going slow, challenging, but well. The working title is “If I Showed You the Way,” and it could be best described as a combination memoir of faith and exploration of Christian faith. Rather than trying to take an apologetic or doctrinal approach, it’s more of a tour of what I have found being a believer in Jesus to be like. Think: Introducing someone to your country, culture, or home town through the lens of your own experience and history with it. It’s the personalized result of research and work I did for another project.
The working outline is:
If I showed you the way…
– I would show you Jesus
– I would show you church
– I would show you the Bible
– I would show you (Jesus’ teaching? the commandments? God’s kingdom? – this stage is still being thought-out…)
– I would show you the cross
– I would show you the future
There is a logic to the order, based on how I (and I think many people) experience the faith…
My other update is I am now writing regularly for the Vashon Loop. This month’s entry is called “In the Valley with God,” and is on page 5 of the print edition. My previous articles can be found here.
Prayers appreciated as I continue to work out the balance between writing and being an attentive shepherd.
Peace in Christ,
Mike
